Nokia upgrade the N96 with the Nokia N97

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

The N-Series collection from Nokia is without doubt their most sought after and acclaimed mobile phones. Upon release, the N95 was immediately a best seller, with over 15 million units sold to date and was branded a truly next-generation mobile phone.

N97

It boasted a 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss Optical lens, GPS, WI-FI, high speed internet browsing and many other features that allowed it to stand out from the competition. Then along came the N96, with Nokia deciding to upgrade the internal memory from 8GB to 16GB, increase screen size from 2.6″ to 2.8″, introduced a dual LED flash and lengthened multimedia playback time. However, Nokia did receive a considerable amount of criticism for the new model, many scoffed it was simply the ‘N95 with more memory’ and that not enough changes or enhancements were made.

Nokia had a lot to prove with the N97 and being arguable the most popular handset manufacturer in the world, it seems that they have raised the bar yet again in what is expected or even deemed possible in the mobile phone community.

Let’s take a look at some of the proposed features in a preview of Nokia’s latest project:-

  • Internal memory enhanced from 16 to 32GB. Expandable memory up to 16GB, meaning a combined memory of 48GB will now be possible, far greater than any current mobile phone handset
  • The first N-Series handset to feature a full touch screen. Biggest yet at 3.5”
  • Full QWERTY keypad. Added to better support social networking websites – like Facebook/Bebo and general internet usage more so than previous models
  • 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash has been kept
  • New styling and ergonomics make for an N-Series phone for a new look
  • Battery capable of 37 hours of music, 4.5 hours of video
  • GPS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, stereo Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Nokia were very confident that their latest offering would be a success, Vice President Jonas Geust was quoted to say – “The Nokia N97 is the most powerful multi-sensory mobile computer in existence”.

The N97 was released Mid 2009 and was very successful here at OneStopPhoneShop. Have a look on our website at the offers available – CLICK HERE.

Flash mob marketing

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Ever wanted to make a statement on a large scale? If the answers yes, then flash mobbing is going to be right up your street. This is when a large group of people assemble suddenly in a public place and then perform an unusual action for a short amount of time. The term ‘flash mob’ is normally applied to gatherings organised via telecommunications, social media or viral emails. Flash mobbing is generally not applied to events organised by firms or if they are running publicity stunts. T-Mobile ran two adverts along the ‘flash mob’ idea, the first advert took place at Liverpool Street Station, take a look, its great, the buzz from the people is amazing…

Dance-along

This was such a big success and has reached 13,959,457 hits on Utube. T-Mobile then released the following announcement…

This really got everyone’s brains ticking as to what the next mass scale advert could be. T-Mobile didn’t disappoint, they arranged a mass sing-along…

Whatever next?…

Glassy Glassy Mobile Phone Idea

Glassy-Glassy-Mobile-Phone-Concept

A Tokyo based designer going by the name of Mac Funamizu, has put together a concept for a mobile phone made from glass. This isn’t the first mobile phone concept to have a glass only theme, but by the looks of it, it looks modern and what a lot of high class business people may want as their business phone.

This glass mobile phone has multiple uses, you can use it as a regular stand-up desk clock or as a mobile phone.

I wonder how easy it brakes, would it be like a glass, once you drop it, it shatters into thousand of pieces… I guess this is something the designers are looking into as we speak, if they haven’t done so already.

You can only start to imagine how much this will cost, if and when it is released…

If you like the look of that phone, feast your eyes on the phone that trendy people need…

THE EDGE phone as its being called is design for the style conscious people out there and has been created by Chris Owens. There are no details on what the phone actually does, but we have some pictures to admire until these details are revealed. Information I found is that to answer an incoming call, you simply slide the glass keyboard out, the LED illuminates the etched numbers via a reflecting creating a glowing effect. There are some visible lines, this is the microphone wiring which has been cleverly disguised as the keyboard boarded…very clever.

The Nokia X3 mobile phone is the first series 40 device to come with Ovi Store enabled!
sexy-nokia-x6
What is Ovi store?

Well in Nokia’s words the Ovi Store will offer consumers relevant, targeted media through their social connections and their physical location information. The store opened in May, ‘it is a scalable media distribution network unrivalled in size and opportunity, with advanced content targeting capabilities and monetization options that allow content providers and application developers to leverage the power of Nokia’s global scale in devices.’ Basically it is very similar to what you use to get applications for the iPhone, infact the website are pretty much the same. You can find games, applications, audio and video content all of which you can use via the Nokia X3. This Nokia phone is the first that can connect to the Ovi store directly, making this a very useful tool.

The Nokia X3 is one of a pair with the Nokia X6, this range is new from Nokia and represents multimedia entertainment phones. This snazzy slide-to-open phone features a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 2.2-inch display screen and an array of music features including, stereo speakers, an FM radio, dedicated music keys and can hold up to 16GB of memory.

Music features have been packed into the X3, the music player copes with most major formats, with the choice of a 3.5mm socket or use the stereo speakers for playback. Also the FM radio antenna is already built-in to the phone, so you don’t need to plug headphones to get a signal – Nokia have made it simple.

There’s a web browser and email client included, which makes keeping in touch with friends and family even easier – You could also upload pictures to Flickr and Adobe! The Nokia X3 is only a 2G mobile phone which means connecting to the internet is slow, but this is a low cost phone.

The Nokia X3 has been designed to be highly recyclable, up to 80% of the components can be recycled. The Nokia X3 uses a high number of recycled materials in the packaging – this mobile really will improve your carbon front print. Nokia have also reduced the amount of toxic chemicals within the materials of the phone. It gets better the charger reminds you to unplug it from the phone when the battery is full – if saving the planet is important to you, you’ll sleep better knowing you have the X3.

In the box you’ll get a 2GB microSD card, a stereo headset and a USB cable for transferring multimedia via your phone to your computer.

If your looking for an attractive music phone, that wont break the bank and is great for the environment, then the Nokia X3 is the phone for you.

What do you think?
