Thursday, December 31st, 2009

The Tocco Lite is taking the mobile phone world by storm! It’s the best selling prepay mobile phone and is the second for contract since the beginning of this month.

This news comes at one of the busiest times of yearSamsung Tocco Lite secured the top slot for the week commencing the 6th December.  This is no surprise to us as the Samsung Tocco Lite was one of our best selling phones for a very long time.

More news from Samsung is that over half of the top 20 prepay mobiles were manufactured by Samsung. The low cost Nokia 2330c and 1661 took second and third place with the LG Cookie and Sony Ericsson W995!

Even though Samsung are doing well, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 beat Samsung to the number one position in the contract segmentation. While Samsung Tocco Lite took second place in the contract list, followed by the very popular Nokia N97 Mini.

BlackBerry
mobile phones have started to creep back into customer popularity, they took three places in the top 10 list, with the BlackBerry 8900 Curve securing ninth position.

It is important to note that these figures did not include sales for Apple’s iPhone.

Handset sales
Reports stated that Christmas had ‘come early’ in mobile retail at the start of December, with retailers reporting a dramatic increase in footfall and a spike in mobile phone sales. Pay-as-you-go mobile phones traditionally see a sharp increase in sales during the busy festive period, which has happened again this year.

O2 recently revealed that iPhone sales had ‘gone up’ since Orange broke its exclusive deal on the Apple device in November.

Meet the unique Kiki from Sony Ericsson

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Sony Ericsson has released a mobile phone concept made from ‘Glass’.

A Danish mobile phone website called Mobil.nu, managed to get hold of the exclusive news on the new glass concept. Kiki is being called a “purity product” with strong emphasis on the design rather than all the technology within it.
kikiFrom the picture, you can see Sony Ericsson Kiki has five buttons and according to the Danish website, the display is made entirely from glass (thick glass).

Where’s the inspiration come from? It seems to be inspired by the rear projection television sets with the image from the screen being projected on the glass surface. This allows for an impressive 3D appearance, making this a definite show off handset! If you look at the image it seems to lack buttons which makes us think it will be touch sensitive user interface.

Keep your eyes peel for this little sexy number, you never know the concept cold turn into reality.

The conversation lasted 42-minutes, he told a friend of the victim ‘My name is Gambo, come and see me at 153 Boultham Park Road’.

Type N Walk comes to the iPhone

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Ever walked into a lamppost whilst texting and walking, tripped over perhaps or even walked straight into someone because you were not looking where you were going?  Everyone has been there and it’s not fun, well now there is an answer.  This ingenious app, allows you to display a transparent view of what’s directly in front of you – using the Apple iPhones camera.  You can use it to compose emails, text messages, status updates, Tweets etc. whilst being able to see where you are going.

It’s a great idea (see the youTube video below) but obviously we at OSPS advise you to be careful with such daily procedures as crossing roads!! It may make texting and walking easier but it doesn’t make you indestructible.  However, this application just hits home the incredible variety of applications becoming available for the world’s most popular mobile phone – what on earth will be next!

Christmas lights could harm broadband connectivity

Keep your broadband router away from the Christmas tree

Christmas lights adorning houses in the festive season could be affecting broadband connectivity according to service provider TalkTalk.

Sylvain Thevenot, one of the companys senior directors, warned that festive lighting such as Christmas tree lights can cause problems with wireless signals, reducing broadband speeds by up to 25 per cent! He continues: “Last year we received many calls from customers over the festive period complaining about slower than normal broadband speeds and a significant percentage of these complaints were due to interference from Christmas lights.”

The advice Thevenot provides is that all broadband users try to keep as much distance between their routers and their Christmas lights as possible, as well as only using quality lighting bearing the CE mark. Flashing Christmas tree lights have been named as the worst culprits.

Merry Christmas from OneStopPhoneShop!
