Google puts money into display ads

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Advertising online becomes more popular as we move further into the 21st century. With this in mind, Google Executives announced in the first three quarter of this year, that they experienced a very strong growth in their display advertising.

googleNext year Google is going to continue to invest deeply in advertising initiatives, involving online video and web able mobile phones. A reporter spoke with investors and analysts at the start of the week – Google said they are pushing all their efforts to increase their ad revenue from display ads, i.e. graphical images, videos and interactive web animations.

Google’s Director of online sales and operations, Tom Pickett said ’the company sold out 90 percent of the ad inventory for the homepage of YouTube, Google’s video website, in the third quarter’

Google is the world’s number 1 search engine; unfortunately no financial updates are available for the current quarter. Past figures show that Google revenue totals up to $22 billion in 2008, this comes from display ads.

Over the last few months Google have made a number of important business acquisitions, selling display ads as it increases its revenue from text ads that appear alongside its search results.

Google brought an ad serving company called DoubleClick for $3.1 billion in 2008. Then just last month they announced plans to acquire AdMob for the sum of $750. This company serves adverts to smartphones or the very famous Apple Inc’s iPhone.

Google have lots planned for 2010 and will no doubt continue to grow their revenue, especially as they are entering the mobile phone manufacturing world. A new product from Google is an advertising tool which allows advertisers to create their own display ads.

Google start to produce phones!

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

News has it, Google are seeking to manufacture and sell their own mobile phones!

It was inevitable that Google would at some stage manufacture and sell their own mobile phones! At present Google have the Android smartphone operating system, which was created a few years ago. It’s didn’t take long for Google to move into the hardware area, and let’s face it this move is likely to shake up the whole of the mobile market.

Google has designed a mobile phone and it plans to sell directly to consumers as soon as next year, no mention of involving third parties.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, Google is “sharing a new device running its Android operating system with employees to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities.”

The phone is called the ‘Nexus One’, it has been designed by Google and produced by HTC – the phone will be sold online and customers will have to subscribe to a mobile service separately.

184555-googlephoneshot_180The reason for this move is due to Google’s disappointment with Android results so far. Many popular mobile phone manufactures including Samsung and LG have been involved in pushing Google’s Android, but they still didn’t overtake Apple’s share in the mobile market!
