UK wants traders’ mobile phone calls taped

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Discussions have started in the UK which involves Banks and other financial companies recording traders’ mobile phone conversations.

Britain’s financial regulator said last Thursday – this is one way of cracking down on the insider dealings that have been taking place.

The Financial Services Authority have said they want a large amount of firms to take all “relevant communications”  carried out by staff on their business mobile phones or other handheld electronic communication devices.

If this was to happen it would cover over 16,000 phones and would cost the industry a massive 11 million pounds ($16.8 million) to set up! The cost doesn’t stop there, another 18 million pounds a year would need to be spent to maintain this! These figures were estimated by the FSA in a consultation paper.

The FSA want industries to get busy, they require firms to record conversations on fixed-line telephones for the last year. At the moment mobile phones have been excluded, but the regulator said ‘technology had advanced enough to include them and remove a loophole in the rules’.

The plan is to cover voice conversations and other electronic communications that will involve the receipt of the client orders and negotiating, agreeing and arranging transactions in the equity, bond and financial and commodity derivatives markets, the consultation paper said.

It looks like over the next few months industries will be getting more and more tight on conversations made and will be cracking down on any mishaps.

Google Nexus One on it’s way

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

It was only a matter of time before most popular search engine Google hit the mobile phone market and boy have they done themselves proud.

Google have teamed up with HTC to provide their first mobile phone – The Google Nexus One! So is the Google Nexus One just another addition to the Android pack or is there something a little more special about it?
google nexus oneThe Android 2.1 has a simpler interface to previous versions, but it has some very neat tricks to impressive even the hardest to impress, for example Speech control and Google Goggles for visual search.

The Nexus One might not look as stylish as for example the iPhone, but its aluminum casing feels reassuringly solid compared to other plastic handsets. The smoother outer edges make it sit comfortable in your hand, while the slim-line design allows it to sit safely in your pocket.

The Nexus has a slightly bigger display screen than the iPhone with over twice the number of pixels, making it extremely easy to read. Plus the 3.7 inch AMOLED display screen allows for a wonderfully bright screen!

Let’s have a look at the technical spec, the battery life last 7 hours for talk time and 250 hours for standby. You’ll find a 5.0-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, which means even though this is an impressive Android mobile phone, it also has multimedia features to match.

If this sounds like the phone for you click-here and register your details – we will contact you as soon as stock is in.
