New Apple and Microsoft tablets set the wow factor!

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

So a simplified version of the PC evolution goes a bit like this :-

Desktop computer -> Laptop -> Notebook -> Netbook -> ?

So what come’s next? Microsoft and Apple are currently in competition adding final touches to the development of two new Tablet PC’s.  These micro PC’s are fully touch sensitive, with the capacity for multi touch, stylus use and more.

Tablet

So with releases on both tablets possibly penned for 2010, excitement is building over who will reign supreme.  Lets take a look at what’s getting Microsoft and Apple fanboys excited about these two concepts.

Microsoft Courier Tablet

  • Dual 7-inch touch screens.
  • Unique hinge design with ability to ‘store’ files and images within the hinge today
  • Built in rear camera
  • Multi-touch gesture interface and interactivity
  • Wi-Fi

Apple

  • 9.6 inch touchscreen
  • HSDPA high speed 3G browsing
  • Wi-Fi
  • Powerful processor
  • Long lasting battery
  • Multi touch gesture interface

So with confirmed features placing them so closely, it’s hard to see who will take the top spot.  Apple clearly seem to have the market favour, with the iPhone still continuing its stellar reign of success, backed up by the recent release of the iPhone 3G.  Neither models have a confirmed release date but both are strongly rumoured for 2010.  Watch this space, Onestopphoneshop might start to sell them…

50 networks now sell netbook

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

In today’s economy businesses have to be one step ahead of the game, they have to have all their specified areas covered off and monitored very closely. Globally, 50 networks have picked up netbooks to broaden product portfolios.

More than 50 mobile operators globally are selling netbooks, including us hear at Onestopphoneshop. This vast interest in selling netbooks has only been over a period of 18 months ago and yet they are picking up a large amount of sales.  This huge interest in netbooks has forced many computer manufacturers to lower their costs, in order to make their businesses profitable.

These slim-line computers have sold over 13.5 million in the first half of 2009, with networks taking up more HP netbooks than any other brand. Canalys is an independent technology focused analyst group who have claimed, only netbooks are experiencing growth this year!

We want things to be more compact and portable, things are getting smaller, you have the Playstation3 that shrunk to the Playstation3 slim, you have mobile phones that can do more than ever but are also smaller than ever and now laptops that have been shrunk to netbooks.

Canalys research analyst Tim Coulling said: “Our latest research reveals that, in August, across Europe, the four PC vendors with the most telco deals were Samsung, Asus, HP and Acer.

“The real surprise has been how quickly the Korean vendors have moved to leverage their mobile phone businesses, selling netbooks to telcos – LG’s netbooks have become prominent in the major countries too.

“Meanwhile, traditional notebook category leaders – including Lenovo, Fujitsu, Sony and Toshiba – have been slow to recognise how quickly the market is changing around them and as a group they have signed fewer than 10 operators.”

I’m sure more netbooks will come into the market this year, with a new style and at a lower price.

Vodafone teams up with Warner Music

Vodafone and Warner Music are a good example of how ‘cocktail’ marketing is rocking the business world.  Cocktail marketing is all about combining two businesses and producing a promotion that involves giving the customer something FREE. Vodafone has done this by teaming up with Warner Music to give free DRM tracks!

Vodafone is the largest mobile phone firm (by revenue) and cocktailing themselves with the Warner Music Group, will allow them to offer music without anti-piracy software from four major labels.  This amazing deal will give Vodafone an outstanding push in new way of marketing their brand and will make them the first global mobile network to offer ‘over-the-air’ music access.

Music seems to be the area Vodafone are concentrating on, since March this year, they have also teamed up with Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and a company called EMI Music who provides music tracks.

Pieter Kook, Vodafone’s internet services director has said:

“Warner Music’s addition to our mobile DRM-free catalogue is really great news for our customers.

“The response to the DRM-free offering in all the markets where it has launched has been incredibly enthusiastic. Our customers love music and they love the flexibility that DRM-free on mobile gives them.”

These DRM-free music tracks are available to download and share across an array of technologies including, mobile phones, MP3 players and computers, without going against copyright laws. We all know laws are not to be broken and with this business cocktail being so law abiding, nothing is set to affect the success. Warner are please that Vodafone are able to share their vision on pushing growth in the mobile music world and also in growing opportunities for customers.

In Britain over 47m adults have a mobile phone, which is around 70% of the population, with more and more people purchasing mobile phones and making them an essential part of living, more and more none mobile phone business are trying to get a look in. More companies want to link their business up to the mobile phone business world, as this seems set to be an area that will forever expand.

Pop band launch new Samsung phone

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Mobile phones seem to rule the world, wherever you go you’ll see someone talking on one, texting on one or even surfing the net on one. With the popularity and interest in phones becoming bigger and bigger, more famous people are starting to get involved in the launch of them. Samsung are launching a new touchscreen phone, aimed at the youth market, which the girl band The Saturdays are launching.

Monday the 15th September Samsung revealed the Genio Touch – the event was launched by the girl band The Saturdays as the new phone hit the UK shops! The phone looks very snazzy and with features like, unlocking the phone by drawing chosen letter on the screen (great security tool) and one finger zoom, which does exactly what it says on the screen.

The Saturdays launching the Genio have given it hype, but is the phone cracked up to what it should be. You’ll be able to drag and drop widgets and applications into the home screen and you’ll be able to view friends status updates via the social networking notification feature. Looking through the phone, I can see this is definitely aimed at the youth market and would pull people off their laptops and more onto phones. Other features include direct access to website such as, YouTube, Flickr and Photobucket.

Mark Mitchinson the Samsung UK and Ireland vice president said: “We’ve designed the Samsung Genio Touch specifically for the youth market. This segment is fiercely competitive and it’s a growth area where you can’t afford to compromise on features or looks. I believe the Genio Touch resonates well within this ever-demanding audience. We all believe the Samsung Genio Touch will be a hit and create a real buzz in the marketplace.”

Samsung have supported the launch of the Genio with a campaign entitled ‘What Colour Is Your Life?’ There’s a TV advert being launched and a microsite – The phone is available from us, CLICK HERE for the full spec and deals.
